The importance of grounding techniques


The first time I was introduced to grounding I remember thinking is my mentor referring to a time out? Am I about to get my phone taken away and be grounded as if I was a child? I was quickly put at ease when I learned that grounding is actually a very helpful tool to have.


What is grounding? Grounding is the process of connecting with the present moment by focusing on physical sensations. It can be done anywhere at any time. It can help reduce stress and anxiety, improve focus, and increase self-awareness.



Learning the definition of grounding is helpful, but I still didn't understand what it meant to ground before channeling the spiritual realm. So, let's talk spiritually ..


Grounding when working in the spiritual realm is extremely important. It helps keep balance between spiritual experiences and stability in the material world, this is important in order to maintain a healthy balance between the two.


There are various techniques for grounding oneself, such as deep breathing exercises, mindful walking, barefoot walking outdoors on dirt, sand or grass, pressing your hands onto the Earth or even gardening with bare hands in the soil.


If you are interested in exploring the spirit realm it is a great start to incorporate these practices in your daily life.



How I ground


I start by taking a few deep breaths. In through my nose, I then hold for ten seconds and exhale through my mouth, feeling the air leave my body. I focus on the sensations of my body, feeling my feet on the ground. Finally, I take a few more deep breaths, feeling my connection to the earth. I imagine large, strong, unbreakable oak tree roots growing out of the bottom of my feet and going through the ground through the rocks and dirt, through the solid and liquid of Earth's mantle. Until the roots get to the center of the Earth. I imagine a glowing white ball in the center of the earth. A ball of positive light, white energy spinning around and around. My roots attach to the spinning ball and whichever direction I move in the ball moves with me. When I am connected to the Earth's energy, I can move with it. I picture the energy of the center of the Earth flowing back up through my body, connecting me with me, holding me, keeping me safe. I relax and allow myself to let go of any negative thoughts or feelings.



Grounding has been an irreplaceable tool on my spiritual journey, I urge you to try it.
